Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education – Coordinator
The Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education (AVETAE) was established by the Act on the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education Act (Official Gazette, No 24/10). The founder of the Agency is the Republic of Croatia, while the rights and duties of the founder are exercised by the ministry competent for educational activities.The activities of the Agency include the planning, development, organisation, implementation, monitoring and improvement of the system of vocational education and training and adult education.
An accessible and flexible system of vocational and adult education, based on competencies, in the function of fulfilling the needs of each individual and society, the carrier of the economy development and greater employability.

University of Cyprus
The University of Cyprus (UCY) was officially founded in 1989. The University has five faculties, Pure and Applied Sciences, Economics and Management, Humanities and Social Sciences, Letters and the recently formed Faculty of Engineering. The Department of Computer Science, belonging to the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, is one of the most active Departments of the University. The Department is very active in the areas of information technology and communications, while it has also been very active in attracting funding and since Cyprus joined the E.U. it has participated in over 150 projects funded by various frameworks of the European Union. The overall funding is currently at the level of about 30 MEUROs. The University of Cyprus participates in the CHAT2LEARN Erasmus+ project through the Software Engineering and Internet Technologies (SEIT) Laboratory, an integral part of the Department of Computer Science.
The Software Engineering and Internet Technologies (SEIT) Laboratory focuses its research activities on two important areas of Information Technology, namely Software Engineering and Internet Technologies. The lab is also actively involved in activities related to E-Business, E-Government, Multimedia Communication Platforms, and Frameworks for elders’ social inclusion, active ageing and independent living. SEIT has extensive experience in the area of applying ICT to e-Learning, m-Learning and Open and Distance Learning in general as well as Life Long Learning in particular. Regarding only the Erasmus+ related themes, SEIT has recently coordinated four Erasmus+ projects (VeLoCiTy, World-of-Physics, DiFens, IDEA), currently coordinates two Erasmus+ projects: T4SVEN (begun in 2021), CHAT2LEARN (begun in 2021) and wINGS (begun in 2018), and also participates in 19 more: DIGIWATER, FARM, ALIVE, Digi-Ageing, DiGi4ME, KAEBUP, EASIER, EPUM, ELSE, AT-SGIRES, SENSE, WINDEXT, Dig-It, ISSA, ICT-4TVET, TOOLS, PRIMAE, QHELP, Digi-Sporting and Job-Jo. SEIT has also participated in 13 Leonardo da Vinci projects, 3 EUMEDIS projects, 2 FP (Framework Programs), 1 INCO-DC and 3 projects funded by national funds. It has also participated in the EMUNI project and the VUSCC initiative, both related to policy making or reform and qualifications accreditation, as well as in the Interreg IVC project Innofun, on developing policies for entrepreneurship and innovation. SEIT is currently participating in two AAL projects: eSticky, and GUIDed, and in one national project: ReaDI-STANCE.
University of Patra
The University of Patra (UPAT) is one of the largest Universities in Greece in terms of academic staff and number of students. It comprises over 25 academic departments, which offer a wide range of undergraduate and research-based postgraduate degrees. The University of Patras has acquired international prominence for pioneering and wide ranging research in areas such as Environment, Health, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Informatics, Education & Pedagogics, Entepreneurship and basic & applied science. A number of its Departments and Laboratories have been designated as Centers of Excellence, on the basis of international assessments. The University of Patras has a reputation for quality and innovative research and presents an effective participation in a plethora of research projects, scientific organizations, and research groups. The Computer Engineering & Informatics Department (CEID) of the University of Patras is one of the more active and famous departments of the University with 28 academic staff, 10 external teaching staff, over 1000 undergraduate and 200 postgraduate students. It offers over 100 undergraduate and over 30 postgraduate courses that cover all fields of Computer Engineering and Computer Science. The department includes three divisions: Computer Software, Hardware and Computer Architecture, Applications and Foundations of Computer Science. Each division includes a number of Labs and research groups. Department of Computer Engineering & Informatics implements modern undergraduate and postgraduate studies and develops innovative research, scientific and social activities. The exuberant work of members of the department (students and staff) and the increasing participation in national and international scientific events, have established a very good international profile and position for the Department. It has great expertise in the development of Educational an e-learning systems as well as expertise on the use of ICT and virtual technologies in education.
Hellenic Open University
Hellenic Open University (HOU) is the only Greek State University that offers formal and non-formal lifelong education, in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, to more than 40.000 students who are dispersed all over the country (www.eap.gr). Its training methodology combines distance learning with principles of adult education, relies heavily on digital material and virtual meetings and used online training platforms and tools. About 80% of its students are working professionals who seek further education in order to improve or change their career, thus HOU has established a permanent connection with the market, professional networks and professional development agencies. HOU is member of EADTU, EUA, Eurashe and the Greek Digital Skills and Jobs coalition. It applies the ISO 9001:2008, ISO 27001:2013 and ELOT 1429:2008 quality standards.
The DAISSy (Dynamic Ambient Intelligent Sociotechnical Systems) research group of the School of Science and Technology (http://daissy.eap.gr, http://gr.linkedin.com/in/daissyresearchgroup) realizes society-centred educational and technological research, supports communities of practice, develops online learning platforms, MOOCs and 3D environments, enables the development of digital and citizenship skills, promotes inclusion and multiculturalism, and adopts standards (e-CF, DigComp, ECTS, ECVET, EQAVET etc.). Since its establishment, DAISSy has participated in more than 70 national and European projects, in various frameworks (i.e. FP5, FP6, FP7, Lifelong Learning, Erasmus+, H2020, AMIF etc.). Today the group employs more than 60 persons, including University professors, PhD and MSc holders, researchers in computer science, artificial intelligence and social sciences, experienced ICT engineers, programmers and administrative personnel. DAISSy is a member of ALL DIGITAL, EVBB and ITPE networks.
European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training
Founded in 1992 followed by a completely renewation in 2010, the European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training (EVBB) is an umbrella association gathering an heterogenous range of educational providers in the common interest of enhancing, upgrading and harmonising Vocational Education and Training (VET) at European level. In accordance with its Statutes, the duty of the European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training promotes youths and adults alike in the following areas:
• providing a liberal education in terms of social, economic and sociopolitical issues taking particular consideration of European policies and policies towards the developing world based on a socially binding, liberal economic and social order,
• promoting technical, vocational or industrial qualification, continuing education and advanced training in addition to retraining,
• providing scientific education,
• providing education with regard to personal or family issues,
• promoting qualification, continuing education and advanced training in the fields of geriatric care, work with the disabled and nursing services,
• developing media and its use,
• promoting environmental qualification.
EVBB mission lies in breaking down traditional hierarchies between VET and higher education and promoting the qualitative improvement of vocational schools and training and in promoting VET as a first choice. EVBB has more than 60 members from all over the world coming from both the private and the public sector and covering all fields related to initial, advanced and further education and training. Beyond that, the European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training (EVBB) has set the following tasks for itself:
• It takes a stand on the fundamental questions of vocational training and encourages the advancement of positions at EU level.
• It represents the common interests of its members and the European institutes in public and in front of national and supranational authorities, the European Parliament, the European Commission, European institutes and national institutes and authorities.
• It promotes cooperation among its members and encourages building networks between them, organizing vocational education in the member states and at a European level.
• It sets up quality criteria for the work in vocational education to which all members are bound.
• It organizes national and international specialist conferences at which the future prospects for vocational education and training are worked out, positions and points of view and the examples for successful projects in national or European policies are presented as good practice.
• Workshops, courses and seminars are conducted within the scope of the EVBB’s own European projects and those of its members.
• Together with the Adalbert Kitsche Foundation, the EVBB awards at its annual conference the “DIE EUROPA” Prize for innovative projects to promote disadvantaged youths.
Neither politically nor denominationally affiliated, EVBB strives for a borderless, pluralistic and fulfilling education as an essential means to shape our democracy and society. Its activities are not focused on business operations or making a profit. It serves solely and exclusively non-profit purposes within the meaning of the General Fiscal Law as it is valid in the Federal Republic of Germany.
EVBB’s permanent staff is based in the EU headquarters so to keep on a close on-going dialogue with EU institutions.
